Abstract
The UNDP Program and Project Manual (PPM) gives the following definition of monitoring: "Monitoring is the continuous oversight of the implementation of project. It seeks to ensure that inputs deliveries, work schedules, the production of targeted outputs and other required actions are proceeding according to plan.

It involves stakeholders like governments, NGOs, donors, and beneficiaries, using various tools like reports, meetings, and site visits. Monitoring also includes problem-solving mechanisms, diagnostic studies, and effective communication for timely decision-making. Its goal is to ensure relevance, efficiency, and responsiveness while fostering transparency and stakeholder engagement.
